The third transnational meeting within the project “INThROugh – power of cross-sectoral synergy between education and sport” was organized in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia, from 16th to 18th December, 2021. It was attended by representatives of organizations and sports clubs from Serbia, Croatia and North Macedonia which form the project consortium (CSO Libero, CSO Interkultura, CSO EduNorth, Football Club Viner, Volleyball club Kitro and Basketball club Cerak).

The main aim of this transnational meeting was to build skills of youth organizations to utilize sport as a tool for non-formal education of young people in the spheres of  intercultural dialogue, promotion of European values and policies, and strengthening democratic principles, etc. The meeting participants have analyzed existing NFE methods  in order to determine which of them can be replaced with sports activities, so young people can stay active during the events. Also, a set of new methodologies based on sports was developed from scratch by the representatives of youth organizations with the support and consultation of sports clubs representatives.  The focus was given on innovating methods for team building, energizers and skill building, as they, among others, form the core of most NFE events.

These newly developed sports-based methodologies are going to be  piloted in the work of 3 youth organizations within the project Consortium, with mentoring and support from 3 sport clubs based in their municipalities. After that we will collect and analyze the outcomes of the piloting phase in order to determine how methodologies for using sport in NFE can be further improved.
