The President of the CSO Libero, Ivan Despotović, has attended a meeting organized by the Serbian Government’s Ministry of Human and Minority Rights with civil society organizations active in the field of youth and education policy development. The meeting was held on March 18, 2021, in the Palace of Serbia and was attended by representatives of 17 non-governmental organizations, as well by the minister Gordana Čomić.
The aim of the meeting was to introduce the organizations to the plans of the Ministry for 2021, as well as to initiate a dialogue on cooperation between the governmental and non-governmental sectors in order to improve the position of young people and the rule of law in Serbia. Representatives of the organizations had the opportunity to present which problems burden the young people in Serbia the most and which concrete steps should be taken in order to mitigate them. It was also agreed that meetings of this format should be organized on a regular basis so they could become one of the components of the ongoing social dialogue that the Ministry wants to promote.
The CSO Libero will continue actively contributing to social dialogue in Serbia and will try to utilise these meetings to advocate for the need to improve the rights of young people in the field of education, participation in democratic processes and active citizenship.
