The seminar “Small and medium business co-operation” was held over the last weekend of May in Nova Varos in South Serbia. It gathered 25 participants from Serbia and Macedonia. Their profile was young, enthusiastic, possibly successful individuals who work in business, media, or NGO sector in the region.

The seminar focused on creation of “economic ties as the bridge between different cultures”. Since regional politics is mainly influenced by the regional economic forces, at this seminar an attempt has been made to re-establish economic contacts among strong young business and other socially active individuals and enable them to spread spirit of cooperation, tolerance and good faith in their own communities upon return.

Through the interactive 3 day seminar, the participants learnt and compared the status of the economy of Serbia and Macedonia in the domain of legislature, bureaucratic requests, present success stories of small and medium enterprises, obstacles and opportunities for larger economic growth in the region, etc. In the last part of the seminar participants focused on needed conditions for providing better support to the individuals and to small and medium enterprises and on what can be done on local level in order to establish better communication and cooperation.
